[DMC-GENERAL] Planned New Website URL and Listservs

Title: Planned New Website URL and Listservs

All,

As a heads up, with the listserv cleanup we are going through, I am in the process of transitioning all electronic communications for the DMC to a new website URL and new listserv addresses. The reason for the change is that all current addresses and URLs emphasize AI-ESTATE where the DMC is much broader. I have not completed the process yet, so I ask for your patience. This is a summary of what is in the works.

1. I have copied all of the content for the DMC website to a new location. Currently, the two sites are identical except that no one (including me) has access to the private area on the new site.

        Current URL: http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/1232
        Planned New URL: http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/scc20/dmc

2. I will have a new username/password set up for 2006 and will use the same username/password combination on both sites.

3. All new content will be put on the DMC site (i..e, there will be no further updates to the 1232 site).

4. I have requested new listservs for the DMC.

        Current General Listserv: mailto:stds-ai-estate@ieee.org
        Requested General Listserv: mailto:stds-dmc-general@ieee.org

        Current Members-Only Listserv: mailto:stds-aiestate-member@ieee.org
        Requested Members-Only Listserv: mailto:stds-dmc-member@ieee.org

5. Once the new listservs are established, I will copy all subscriptions over. You will not need to do anything. I will then empty out the subscriptions in the AI-ESTATE listservs and request that the IEEE disable them.

6. I am also working out how to archive the new and the old messages sent to the listservs as separate archives. I suspect this will be possible, but I am not sure how to do it yet.

7. After the new website is operational and stable, I will remove the old website.

You will receive emails at each step along the way so you are aware of what is happening. While you can go to the new website now, I suggest you wait until everything is set up before bookmarking that site. In addition, do NOT use the new email addresses since the new listservs do not yet exist.

Thanks for your patience during this transition. Who knows, if I get ambitious, I might even start a project to update the look and feel of the website. But no promises.
