Dear Prem:
The 1346 Working Group is pursuing power quality compatibility test procedures for specific equipment to be part of a 1346.X series of documents. Presently, two procedures have been selected as candidates. The first is a power quality compatibility test procedure for electric vehicle battery chargers jointly developed by EPRI and the Electric Vehicle Consortium. The second is a similar procedure for drives jointly developed by EPRI and NEMA. Neither of these procedures have an organization to publish the documents.
Some the individuals that helped develop the procedures are 1346 members and they suggested that 1346 assume the responsibility of publishing the procedures in IEEE format.
Working Group 1346 has dual membership in PES and IAS and is sponsored by SCC 22.
Before the PARS are submitted, I would like to assure that the procedures are not infringing upon the area of responsibility of another committee or working group and that proper liaisons are established. I have discussed the PARS with Tomy Sebastian, chairman of the drives committee, and his standards liaison officer. I have also talked to C. Martin Walsh, chairman of the Appliance Industry Committee. These individuals indicated that the PARS do not cover their committees area of responsibility.
By this letter, I would like to request that you review the PARS with respect to IAS committee responsibility and potential coordination. It is planned that the 1346 Working Group will discuss these issues and the results of your investigation at the 1999 IAS Annual Meeting. If there are no unusual issues, the PARS will be submitted after the meeting.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss the PARS, please call me at 248-619-1045.
Sincerely,
Van Wagner
Chairman, 1346 Working Group
