Minuites for IEEE 1346 Working Group
May 2, 1994

Called to order 8am by Van Wagner
Van Wagner acting chairman in the absence of Tony St John

Van relayed that Tony has had a change in job emphasis and will no longer be active in the 1346 working group . He then opened the floor for nominations for chairman.
Van Wagner was nominated, seconded and elected ( per approval of the SC22 committee) as chairman.
Van Wagner then opened the floor for secretary ( to replace Van Wagner)
Larry Morgan was nominated, seconded and elected ( per approval of the SC22 committee) as secretary.
A motion to approve the minutes of the Toronto meeting was made and approved.

Van Wagner reviewed the authors and draft revisions that occurred during the jan,feb 94 submittal of the working group. The paper was accepted for presentation at this I&CPS may 94 during the WED technical session.

Van Wagner informed the committee that a panel session had been approved for the Denver IAS meeting OCT 6 94. Five presenters will divide the 1346 paper and present it. Larry Morgan Duke Power will present the Utility sag sources, Mark McGranaghan Electrotek will present the EPRI DPQ data, Bob Kretschmann of Allen Bradley will present equipment susceptibility, Lin Sanders of GM and ....... of Ford the customer impact and Van Wagner the Cumulative Economic analysis involving the Event probability , Equipment susceptibility, Nominal voltage impact graphs and Down time cost.
Discussion followed as to how to get the content of the presentations published... as the 1346 paper itself can not be resubmitted. Suggestions included submitting an abstract of the panel for inclusion in the proceedings, submittal of conference level papers from each presenter, inclusion of an abstract in the IAS program ? , etc. Strong support was given to inclusion of conference grade discussion papers from the presenters to be included in the conference transactions. Also strong support was given to publishing the 1346 paper in the PES & IAS transactions magazines.

The Floor was then opened to NEW business.....
Where should the working group concentrate next...
After several suggestions and round table discussion .... Everyone submitted a list of their thoughts for the future of the 1346 working group..Priority should be given to developing an 8.5 X 11 check list to be used when purchasing equipment.
Further compiling of the Ideas list to be done later that evening as posted on the Conference Bulletin board.
Meeting adjourned.

addendum: Compilation of the ideas list was held 3-5pm with 10 attendees. The list is attached. The list is to be submitted to the Irvine attendees , then edited by the chairman, then submitted to the Technical Book chairman and working group chairman to solicited reference materials and current work on each subject. Categories involving compatibility that are not responded to by a chairman will be taken up by the 1346 working group. Emphases on producing a 8.5 x 11 check list and a practical example will receive first priority.
