Dear Dr. Kaliski:

Thank you for writing to request any updates on possible
patents, patent applications, or trademarks that either of
us may have and which are relevant to the current contents 
of IEEE P1363, "Standard Specifications for Public-Key
Cryptography".

The current contents of the referenced work employ NO techniques
in which Mihir or I have patents, patent applications, or
trademarks.  

The technique in that work most associated to us, designated 
"OAEP", is a method for which we never sought patent protection. 
Nor is there any trademark for "OAEP" (or "EME-OAEP") of which 
we are aware.
 
You are welcome to make this note a matter of public record 
and include it in the P1363 Web page.
