Study Group for Future Public-Key Cryptography Standards Wednesday, May 31, 2000 Sheraton Dalton St., Boston, MA MEETING SUMMARY * Reviewed purpose of group (to study and recommend new standards projects in public-key cryptography, and generate project authorization requests (PARs)) and operational procedures. * Reviewed purpose and scope of password-based public-key techniques document named P1363.2. Vote on wording and final approval deferred to August meeting. * Reviewed purpose and scope of new families document named P1363.1. Decided to focus the standard on lattice-based techniques. Vote on wording and final approval deferred to August meeting. * Presentation given on XTR. * Reviewed public-key validation proposal. Decided that a separate standard for PKV is not required, but would like to include PKV in a future addendum (P1363b) to the 1363 base standard. * Reviewed public-key cryptography techniques registry. Agreed that two standards documents would be required: one for the process of creating and maintaining the registry, and one for the format of the registry entries. Determined that further study is required before submitting a PAR. * Next meeting will be in conjunction with IEEE P1363 meeting directly after the Crypto 2000 copnference in Santa Barbara, CA.
