IEEE P1363 Working Group for Public-Key Cryptography Standards Meeting Summary (unapproved) Tuesday, May 22nd, 2001 Marriott Airport Hotel, Toronto, ON P1363a: - The current draft didn't pass the e-vote because the vote missed quorum. - Our sponsor requested we include patent information in an annex. - Burt Kaliski and David Stern will work together to produce diagrams. - Reviewed comments and agreed to take the most contentious issues to the mailing list. - Kaliski will incorporate responses in time for an e-vote, starting on or around June 15th. The next MSC meeting is on July 9th. P1363.1: - Discussed the fact that EESS#1 specifies encoding methods in more detail that P1363.1; felt that P1363.1 needed more detail. - Discussed primitives/scheme separation. Look into revising it. - Voted to include NTRU encryption in P1363.1. - Dan Lieman stepped down as editor, William Whyte took over. P1363.2: - David Jablon has received comments on specific techniques which he will incorporate in the next draft. - Discussed overall structure of the document - Discussed the Rationale section. - Phil MacKenzie will submit his SNAPI technique for inclusion in the document. Registry: - IEEE have suggested a different form for the registry; the meeting was more enthusiastic about the registry than previously. Working Group: - The group was in favor (in theory) of slightly relaxing the membership criteria. - Singer requested that anyone who knew of other standards body meetings pass them to the Secretary, so he can keep track of potential conflicts. - All officer positions are up for election this year. Nominations open in August, and the vote will take place in September. P1363b: - Pil Joong Lee expressed an interest in editing P1363b. This will depend in part on progress with the registry.
