IEEE P1363 Working Group Thursday-Friday, June 1-2, 2000 Sheraton Dalton St, Boston, MA MEETING SUMMARY * The IEEE Editor for the 1363 document has completed her edits. However, there are still several issues to be resolved with the working group. Reyzin is leading the effort to compete edits on std 1363-2000. * Presentation given on the changes made to P1363a to arrive at D4. Major changes included adding the PV signature material, adding the EPOC and ESIGN material, adding KDF2 and adding arbitrary finite field support material. * Discussed the issue of message padding for PSS signature generation. * Discussed the generalization of DL/ECIES. There was no agreement as to how this should be used in the standard. * Discussed not allowing the use of elliptic curves over even characteristic fields with composite extension degree. Chose not to disallow the use, but to include a warning in the security considerations. * Presentation given to P1363a on EPOC-3 and PSEC-3. * Presentation on hash function identifiers. * Presentation on key distribution method based on DL problem. * Discussed the possibility of starting work on a second amendment in order to expedite the completion of P1363a and include additional techniques worthy of inclusion that are not in the standard. There did not seem to be significant support for work on this project at the time. * Next meeting will be in conjunction with IEEE P1363 meeting directly after the Crypto 2000 conference in Santa Barbara, CA.
