[P1363:] Sponsor ballot information

Hi List,

At the August meeting we discussed preparation for IEEE sponsor ballot
for P1363.1 and P1363.2. To be eligible to vote in sponsor ballot you
must be a member of IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA).

One WG member pointed out to me that on the IEEE website at the moment
they are offering only IEEE membership for 2007. We expect to start
sponsor ballot on both standards in 2006, and the member asked me
to clarify how they can be eligible to vote on a 2006 sponsor ballot.

I've consulted with IEEE, and the answer is: if you're not currently
a member and you join for 2007, the membership covers all remaining
months of 2006 for free. In other words, taking out 2007 membership
makes you eligible to vote in any new 2006 sponsor ballots.

I'd therefore encourage any WG members who are interested in participating
in the sponsor ballots to take out IEEE membership as soon as possible.

I'm working with IEEE to get the ballot invitation pools started and
will post further information on that when I have it.

Cheers,

William
