Phone Conference P1450.1 Working Doc Subgroup Thurs Jan 4, 10:00 am PST --------------------------------------------- Attendees: ---------- Tony Taylor Peter Wohl Gregg Wilder Doug Sprague Greg Maston Tony opened with an Agenda Proposal Discussion - 1 - open issues on current doc 2 - partition up effort 3 - process to follow-through with these changes. 4 - discuss dot2 status Process ------- Started with the third agenda item - Proposal: put new names against sections. Peter recommends serial changes to a single master doc. Tabled this discussion to later. Open Issues ----------- - Peter pent-up changes: -- BIST structures? Greg raised only concern for him is impact on the balloting process, will adding this section put the ballot at-risk. Peter has had past review of current proposal from LogicVision. Request for input from Mentor (Paul R.), IBM (Brion K.). Peter took AI[1] to add BIST to doc, Tony took AI[2] to discuss BIST structs at next CTL meeting, Doug to AI[3] to review BIST structs within IBM. To support resolving concerns about the current proposal, Peter took AI[12] to distribute current BIST section without integration in rest of doc, to allow immediate review without waiting for Peter's turn at the document. -- Peter has list of single edits to complete, mostly for Tony to do -- scanstructures editing (clause 11). -- annex I work -- annex C work - Tony raised an issue from Denis about the multiple use of ScanStructures statement (as block and inside the patterns). Concern that this may be an inconsistent use, Working Group feels this structure has been used with WaveformTable references so the Working Group needs additional clarification if something else should be done. - Tony raised question in ScanStructures, about ScanClock statement but no "ScanEnable" statement. Peter is open to adding this or not; Greg would like to see this statement added. - Greg overview of concerns with his current changes: -- terminology: pattern_expr vs. logical_expr. Tony identified Two contexts of pattern_expr: conditional applications vs. pattern assignment (wfc_expr). Tony made a proposal to have two types of expressions in this doc: (1) pattern_expr / logic_expr (2) wfc_expr -- Greg took AI[4] to separate wfc_expr from logic_expr and add a section to define wfc_expr. Tony took AI[5] to review all current uses of pattern_expr and differentiate to logic_expr or wfc_expr. -- Tony raised a concern about the use of the term "cellref_expr". Greg will add cellref_expr explanation to section 6 (AI[6]). -- Greg will clean up section 12.2, funny ref to AnnexK in there. -- Discussion about the STIL reserved words and reserved characters tables (tables 1 and 2). Greg took AI[7] to create document of complete set of usages across all standards, to put on website. Greg took AI[8] to distribute dot0 clarification doc now. Group resolved that these tables should be incremental and represent changes due to this standard only; greg took AI[9] to change these tables to incremental form. - Doug's issues: reviewed last changes at ITC, will continue to review but no specific changes unless issues raised. - Peter raised an issue that Gordon presented a "tiling" example that could not be supported with the current proposal. Identified need to close on this issue with Gordon. Tony took AI[13] to understand Gordon's test case and determine whether current syntax support it. - Tony identified that after much discussion in ITC, the decision was made to remove TestResult() from document. Greg took AI[10] to review this issue with kim and microchip and see what sort of interest is there to push for this feature, or to start the removal process from this document. Process (again) --------------- Greg will hold the current doc as the master at this time (starting Jan 4) He will enable change bars for next revision, complete changes by Jan 18 if not before, and distribute next revision with change bars. Greg took AI[11] to send current frame doc around to all. Tony will take doc as master next, and work some set of changes. Peter take doc third in week of Jan 29. Peter send BIST info around separately to get reviews (AI[12]). Dot2 ---- Gregg reviewed dot2 status; issue/concern in current doc about intra-cycle dclevel changes, probably just need more clarifications. Tony recommended a pre-balloting review process but attempt to close dot2 and get it into this pre-review process. Next Meeting --------------- The next phone meeting will be on 1/18 from 10:00 to 11:30 PST. Bi-weekly phone meeting will be scheduled until we get through this documentation phase. AI's ---- AI[1] - peter incorp. BIST proposal into the doc as part of this standard. AI[2] - tony review BIST proposal inside CTL. AI[3] - doug review BIST proposal inside IBM. AI[4] - greg to add wfc_expr to section "6". AI[5] - tony review all use of pattern_expr to logic_expr or wfc_expr. AI[6] - greg add cellref_expr to section "6". AI[7] - greg create table of ALL STIL reserved words and chars across ALL standards. AI[8] - greg distribute clarifications to dot0 IMMEDIATELY! AI[9] - greg will change table 1 and 2 to incremental forms. AI[10] - greg talk to kim & microchip about TestResult() AI[11] - greg send frame doc around to all IMMEDIATELY! AI[12] - peter distribute current BIST doc stand-alone for review. AI[13] - tony review Gordon's example of pattern tiling
