Phone Conference P1450.1 Working Doc Subgroup Thurs Feb 14, 10:00 am PST --------------------------------------------- Attendees: ---------- Jim Teisher Tony Taylor Greg Maston Doug Sprague Peter Wohl Agenda ------ - Continue resolution of internal review cycle and finalize draft 13 document containing reviewer resolutions. Focus on red text in resolution document (indicating open issues). - Discuss recommended usage doc and dot0 clarification doc as distributed by Greg Issues ------ DM-1 again: Changed syntax from last meeting (->) to colons and double-colons (:). Additional discussions with .6 suggested ordering to be: INSTANCE:SCANSTRUCT_NAME::CHAIN_NAME Discussed option to present the scanstruct_name to be optional, if not present then chain_name is found in current scanstructure. Initially proposed: INSTANCE:CHAIN_NAME But parsing would be better if: INSTANCE::CHAIN_NAME Presented the .6 perspective on this construct: core_inst:signal_domain::signal_name Recommend to .6 to use this construct: core_inst::signal_name Greg stated that having the scanstruct name as optional is valid for an ASIC-library context, where cells are being described hierarchically. This allows internal hierarchical cells to be described without reference to the scanstruct name, which reduces the number of occurances of this name when this scanstruct gets integrated with other scanstructs... so Greg recommends support for the optional construct. Discussed the option to use ':' only. This makes parsing of this statement more complex because you cannot interprete the statement until the whole statement has been parsed and determined whether one ':' or two ':' were seen in the statement. Doug proposed the following to allow ourselves to dig out from this hole: INSTANCE:SCANSTRUCT_NAME:CHAIN_NAME INSTANCE::CHAIN_NAME This was accepted by the group and allows us to define our construct and simplify parsing at the same time. JC2: group agrees with the wording of this. DS4: Greg's AI, still. DS6: Agree with removal of commas. DS7: Doug's AI, still. DS14: Tony hasn't pasted email in here, yet. DS15: recommended usage of filetypes, etc. After distributing the current recommendation doc, .6 expressed concern about having conflict between our recommendations and their definitions. Acceptance to put this doc on the web. ----------- Dot-zero clarifications - Doug will send email around about internal review. Commitment made to wrap-up the D12 document by next meeting, to close on the remaining 3 issues above and respond to reviewers. --------------------------------------------------- Next Meeting ------------ in two weeks; Feb 28, 2002. AIs --- [AI0] Tony - change scanstruct hierarchy constructs as identified. [AI1] Tony - talk to Adam about placing recommended usage doc on web. [AI2] Greg - make identified changes to the recommended usage doc. [AI4] Greg to rewite last paragraph of section 6.1 [AI5] Doug to provide expression-type-clarification diagram or text. [AI6] Tony to put Doug's X-stmnt-position-add't into resolution doc.
