Phone Conference P1450.1 Working Doc Subgroup Thurs Mar 14, 10:00 am PST --------------------------------------------- Attendees: ---------- Tony Taylor Greg Maston Peter Wohl David Kellerman Agenda ------ - Focused items of discussion, contained in email sent out by Tony, present in the agenda of this meeting. Issues ------ David joined the Working Group, as a representative for Teseda. Tony took [AI1] to send out a general dot-1 status to the reviewers and the general reflector, to address a question received from Gordon R., to identify that we ARE coming to closure on the reviewer issues. Working Group accepted issue 1 (lockstep and Shift-padding) with two additions: identify requirement that Shift blocks be started in parallel (otherwise whatever padding we do is moot), and add statement that the padding value is defined to be the GREATEST value specified across all ScanIn and ScanOut on signals with '#' across all Shifts started in parallel. Working Group accepted issue 2 (backslash-quote in NameMapped name-string) with addition that a single-backslash not followed by quote or backslash is an error. Peter requested that a Verilog example: '\"abc[15] ' -> "\\\"abc[15] " be added as well. Tony got [AI2] to move these two sets of additions into the dot1 draft. Working Group accepted issue 3 but defined that it should end up in the usage document for dot-zero. Greg got [AI3] to do this. New Business ------------ Greg lamented that he didn't get his email of some additional corrections/elaborations to dot1, delivered before the meeting, but that this email would be forthcoming soon after the meeting for discussion next time. Tony presented the perception that several people consider dot-1 to be a "testbenching language only". The primary initial view of the spec is also commonly seen as "too complex". This is similar to initial review issues with dot-0, that caused the Working Group to move the 'tutorial' up in the document to present a simple example first and work toward complication. Tony took it upon himself to look at this issue and see if some sort of intro/tutorial/expanded explanation section is necessary to assist first-read. Next Meeting ------------ in two weeks; Mar 28, 2002. AIs --- [AI1] Tony - email to dot-1 reviewers on status of doc. [AI2] Tony - to put the changes agreed to above into dot1 draft. [AI3] Greg - to put change#3 into the dot-0 usage doc.
