[STDS-P1619] Update on IEEE 1619 XTS Submission to NIST
Hi Folks,
Here's an update on the status of the IEEE 1619 XTS submission to NIST:
Both IEEE and NIST are coordinating a release of the XTS portion of IEEE 1619 for a 90 day public review. This will likely start in the next few weeks. The process needs
approval by NIST's legal council, so it may be delayed slightly. If this review does not reveal any significant problems, then we can expect NIST to add XTS as an Approved mode of operation for purposes of FIPS 140-2 compliance.
The editorial review of IEEE 1619 is nearly complete. You should expect to find IEEE 1619 available for purchase in the next couple weeks (Same is true for IEEE 1619.1). Working group members are entitled to a free copy, but only if we have your current e-mail address on file. If you have updates to your contact information, please make sure to send this information to Fabio Maino (fmaino <at> cisco.com) and me.
