[STDS-P1619] IEEE e-mail delays

FYI:

By the time this reaches it probably won't be an issue, but it looks like IEEE is having trouble with its e-mail forwarding.  This would explain (in part) why I've seen several hour delays before receiving e-mail to my ieee.org account, and why the e-mail reflector seems slow.  Here's the status from IEEE:

(see http://eleccomm.ieee.org/System_Outages2.shtml)

The IEEE is experiencing delays receiving email and processing email from the Internet. A problem with a DNS system increased the lookup times for the resolution of email address which afected the IEEE UCE/Spam Filtering Service. As a result spam filtering slowed down and it also slowed IEEE's ability to received and process email.

The DNS issue has been resolved and the system's processing is getting back to normal. The systems are expected to be back to normal by the end of the day, and the staff is also researching reports of increased Internet activity that may also contributed to the email slowness.

The IEEE IT staff will provide an update at 18:00 EDT
