Re: [STDS-P1619] [P1619-2] Drafts on siswg.net are now only accessible if you log in

Hi Darren,

Here is the text for the rule (see 2007 IEEE style guide, section 4.3, last paragraph at http://standards.ieee.org/guides/style/section2.html):

IEEE has strict rules concerning the electronic posting of draft standards. It is permitted to place draft standards on a password-protected site for access by members of the working group or task force responsible for the development of the document. Draft standards shall not be placed on a site accessible to those outside the working group. Public review of the draft is obtained through specific coordination or through the IEEE Sponsor ballot process.

The rule is straight-forward.  You can join the working group by creating an account on siswg.net, for free.

Cheers,
-Matt

Hi Folks,

IEEE-SA has requested that we restrict access to P1619.x drafts on siswg.net <http://siswg.net>.  Now, to access the latest drafts, you need to log into siswg.net <http://siswg.net>

I don't like this policy. Matt, please push back against IEEE and
tell them that this place too much of a burden on participation and
therefore we will not implement it.

What is the perceived security risk they think is being protected against by requiring authentication ?
