Hi Folks,
For those who will be at
Crypto 2008, I'm giving an overview presentation on all of P1619 at the Tuesday (August 19, 2008) Birds of a Feather session. This session will be in the Anacapa formal lounge, starting sometime after 2:00 p.m. PDT. Despite being in a 'formal' lounge, this will be an informal session to discuss the cryptography within P1619.x standards. Here's a rough outline of the contents:
P1619 "Disk Narrow-Block Encryption":
- History
- EME - Broken by Antoine Joux
- LRW - Discussion of security proof and why it wasn't good enough
- XTS - Final encryption mode, submitted to NIST for consideration as an Approved Mode of Operation
P1619.1 "Tape Authenticated Encryption":
- GCM - Galois/Counter Mode of AES
- CCM - CTR Encryption with CBC MAC
- CBC-HMAC - Cipher Block Chaining with Keyed-Hash MAC
-
XTS-HMAC - XTS with HMAC
P1619.2: "Wide Block Encryption"
- EME2 - ECB Mask ECB 2 - fixed version
- XCB - Extensible Codebook
P1619.3: "Cryptographic Key Management"
Security in Storage Workshop 2008 (SISW 2008)
Key Management Summit (KMS 2008)
Afterwards, I'll post the slides on
siswg.net.
Hope to see you there!
Cheers,
-Matt
