All, Meeting minutes for March 14, 2007, and an extract on "informative" and "normative" sections from the IEEE Style Guide (http://standards.ieee.org/guides/style/) are attached. Scott, Stu, and I met at JHU APL on February 22, and agreed about the way ahead for P1700. The draft of about 50 pages was mostly complete a year or more ago, and contains perhaps ten pages of normative material, the rest being informative. The challenge at hand is to identify the informative material, and label and segregate it when appropriate. Our target is to send the draft to ballot no later than October, and perhaps sooner. The ISSAA web site (http://issaa.org) has been updated, and everything you need is linked there including the recently approved ISSAA procedures and the current draft. Stu is working to identify informative material in the draft so that we can approve his selections and suggest others at the next meeting (April 18). Contact me if you want to contribute before the next meeting to this review. P1700 is a relatively simple project and identifies the necessary components and their relationships to each other in an information system security assurance architecture based on the NIST developed FISMA guidance. Other standards for the components will be developed, and these will be more complex and difficult. Jack
