"Recommending practices for
modulating current in High Brightness LEDs for mitigating health risks
to viewers"
Our Purpose:
Bring together a community of lighting
environmental psychologists, lamp designers, LED driver designers, and
LED lamp users to 1) discuss health concerns for modulating
frequencies/flicker in LED
lighting and 2) provide recommended modulating frequency practices to
aid the LED lamp design in different applications.
Public Documents:
Our goal is to create a transparent, open
process. In order to do this, IEEE Standards P1789 will post various
documents and openly solicit comments from the public from the
following web page link:
Draft report on flicker is
open for public comment (report posted 2/19/10)
Members of IEEE PAR1789 participated in a special session on issues of
LED flicker at the US Department of Energy SSL Workshop in Philadelphia
7/22/10. Presenations may be downloaded: Flicker
slide presentations (see day 2 session)
