This message is sent on behalf of Michael Wilson, Gigle Semiconductor **** To: Participants in the IEEE P1901 meeting in Edinburgh, July 2007 Friends, colleagues and industry peers, Welcome to Edinburgh! I would like to add my thanks to Jean-Philippe and Noelle for a fast review and posting of the submitted documents. We can all look forward to a successful meeting next month. In the meantime and for your convenience, I have taken the liberty of putting together some background information on Edinburgh. I would also like to arrange an informal whisky tasting session for those people who are interested in sampling Scotland’s original delicacy! Please take a look at the whisky tasting information below and let me know if you would like to attend. General information The meeting will take place at the Radisson hotel, which is located in the city centre. Please find attached a short document with some general information on the hotel location, airport-hotel transfers and climate. Restaurants Edinburgh has a fine tradition of international dining, specialising in Indian, Scottish and fish restaurants. I have put together a list of recommended restaurants which are quite near to the meeting venue. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like a specific recommendation. Whisky tasting I am planning to arrange an informal private whisky tasting session on Tuesday evening 10th July at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society in Edinburgh. The tasting would comprise 4 high quality malt whiskies. The cost would be £37.60 per person (£32+VAT). Please let me know as soon as possible if you would be interested in participating this event. I would like to get an idea for numbers in order to book the Society rooms. You can find some information about the tasting sessions at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society here: http://www.smws.co.uk/venues/queen_st_private_tasting.php Golf A number of you have expressed an interest in taking in a round of golf. Edinburgh is close to some of the best golfing locations in Scotland. To the east are the excellent links courses of East Lothian, such as North Berwick and Gullane, to the north are the scenic inland courses of Gleneagles and Perthshire, while just over an hour away is golf's spiritual home of St Andrews. If you would like to experience a taste of Scottish golf during your stay, I am delighted to recommend the services of Moss Golf Tours to assist with the arrangements. Whether you are looking for just a day trip or a golf tour before or after the conference, tee-time reservations, transport, club hire and accommodation can all be arranged for you. If you are interested, please contact Joan Montgomerie at Moss Golf Tours directly for more information on +44 131 658 1248 or at joan@mossgolftours.com.
