I neglected
one point: TWG4 unanimously approved the deletion of editing comment “Insert

Subject: RE: TSG 4 decisions on
Clause 5
Mike is having list server issues and
asked me to forward this to the Group. TSG2
will vote to confirm these changes in the TSG2 meeting today.
I added the square bracket doc. number.
Jim:
I offer the following report to TSG2:
[Document TSG2-0132_ro_Chr4_CD_Egan.doc]
- TSG4
unanimously approved 5.3 changes proposed by John Egan, with one
exception. The word “re-sited” in 5.3.6.4.2 shall remain. To clarify its
meaning “(moved)” shall be added after “re-siting”.
- TSG4
also reached unanimous agreement on 5.1.1. Below is the resulting text,
with significant changes highlighted:
5.1
General description of IEEE 1901 Architecture
5.1.1 General
description
This
clause introduces the concepts and terminology used within this standard
(referred to throughout the text as IEEE 1901). Specific terms are defined in
Clause 3. Illustrations convey key IEEE 1901 concepts and the
interrelationships of the architectural components. IEEE 1901 uses an
architecture to describe functional components of a network employing IEEE 1901 devices. The
architectural descriptions are not intended to represent any specific physical
implementation of IEEE 1901.
IEEE 1901 devices can be deployed on
in-building mains power networks or over power distribution networks both
medium and low voltage. While its use in-building lends itself to use of the
term LAN, the deployment of IEEE 1901 devices on distribution lines does not as
this encompasses a broad area, traditionally not considered a LAN but a WAN.
The term, therefore, “network of IEEE
1901 devices” covers both instances of the IEEE 1901
architecture, LAN and WAN.
Delete 5.1.1.1
[Editor’s note: Must look for other uses of
“IEEE 1901 network” and replace with “network
of IEEE 1901 devices”.]
