first 754R intensive subcommittee meeting
At the last 754R meeting, it was decided to try holding frequent intensive
subcommittee
meetings to see if some consensus on the outstanding issues could be
achieved within a small group, which would then present recommendations to
the full 754R committee. To maintain intensive focus, these subcommittee
meetings will be frequent: we anticipate meeting twice weekly until the
next full committee meeting in August, when we can report and perhaps
recalibrate.
The first such meeting will be held tomorrow, Tuesday 27 July 2004,
from 1:00pm to 6:00pm at Sun Microsystems Menlo Park Building 16.
The second will be held two days later.
The agenda for the first meeting will be to figure out a methodology for
proceeding, and then perhaps tackling the recent outstanding issues of formats,
extended formats, and NaNs. If closure is obtained on any one of these
that will be wonderful.
Membership on the subcommittee is open to any 754R members who are able to
attend frequently.
Please let me know if you plan to attend in person or by phone.
