This is item 17 for July. - Dan

From: RICHARD DELP <ddelp@xxxxxxxxxxx>
Subject: Motion to Standardize on DPD
To: stds-754@xxxxxxxx, stds-754@xxxxxxxxxxx
Please add to the July 754R Agenda:
Moved: to amend the standard by deleting all references to BID, thus making
DPD data encoding required for any conforming implementation. All
concomitant changes, such as deletion of tables, changing plurals to
singulars necessary to effect this change are included.
Rationale: The proneness to error, additional effort, and tangible and
intangible costs to users, software and library implementors, educators, and
all hardware implementors other than the two entities advocating each data
representation outweigh the advantages to these implementors of the ability
to support their choce of data representation.
