Motion: select between DPD and BID by lot
Rationale:
It seems clear that both formats offer certain advantages to certain
people in certain applications. Either is acceptable to anyone who is
not an interested party. Today we have the worst of all choices, namely
both. A court recently resolved an unsettlable issue by having the two
attorneys play a round of rock-paper-scissors; we are not going to do
any better.
A personal note: My affiliation is a genuinely disinterested party in
this dispute: we plan to implement decimal, and will implement only one
format but don't care which it is. If this motion fails and no other
resolution to this impasse arises then I will entertain cash inducements
to choose one format over the other and so add to market momentum and
mind share.
