What if Nancy became "floating-point datum"

My first impression was that this might work, but when I tried to fit
it into the document, I hit a snag: how to refer to two items. You
see, "data" is a collective plural, so it doesn't take grammatical
number; I can't say "compare two floating-point data", as in the first
sentence of 7.11.

In the meantime, David Hough came up with "floating-point items", which
avoids this issue.

Talking of "data", I spotted a "data is" in 7.12.2 2nd paragraph.
(Keep in mind when next updating the document.)

Michel.
