MSC members and Awardees,The October meeting of the MSC will be held on 13 October 2008 at a place still to be determined in the southern end of Silicon Valley.
The preliminary agenda is attached and included. The two major items on the agenda are the ELECTION OF OFFICERS for the coming years and the AWARD Presentation for the 754-2008 and 1394-2008 standards.
For the election of officers we need CANDIDATES, there are none currently available. If you would consider running for one of the positions, CHAIR, VICE CHAIR, SECRETARY, TREASURER, of RAC representative, or could recommend someone for the positions, please let me know. The requirements are being a member of the IEEE and the SA. We have tried over the past year to hold this election and have had no candidates come forward.
If there is no candidates for the officer positions other than myself for the RAC representative, the future of the MSC as a standards sponsor is in doubt.
Secondly, It is a pleasure to recognize all the hard work put forward by the members of the working groups for the IEEE Floating Point Arithmetic Standard (754-2008) and IEEE High Performance Serial Bus Standard (1394-2008). There will be an Award Ceremony and Dinner to honor them on the 13 of October MSC meeting. (Venue is still TBD). I look forward to seeing the awardees at the meeting as guests of the MSC.
