IEEE 802.4L Submissions, Reports and Minutes

Before the IEEE 802.11 Working Group was formed,  an IEEE 802 Task Group - Task Group 4L - met to consider the requirements, technological capability and how to serve these with an IEEE 802 standard.  The group met for roughly four years,  and ended up writing a project authorization request (PAR) for the original 802.11 Working Group.

The papers circulated at the meetings of Task Group 4L were retained by the founding IEEE 802.11 Chair, Vic Hayes.  These papers were scanned and are available as follows:

Drafts

It is IEEE-SA's policy not to make drafts available,  except to those actively participating in the development of that draft.  Active participants in 802.11 have access to all current 802.11 drafts.   Once a project is approved,  all such drafts become obsolete, access to the drafts of that project is removed from current active participants, and the drafts are themselves archived securely.

Many old drafts have also been retained.

The IEEE-SA will consider on a case-by-case basis any request to be supplied with a version of an old/obsolete draft.  This should initially go to the IEEE 802.11 chair,  who will then liaise with IEEE-SA staff.

This location lists the drafts that have been retained.
