wpan/ ISO/IEC RFID Radio Interface Stds effort

This notice is intended to inform you of the formation of an ISO/IEC group to develop RFID radio interface standards.

No draft RFID radio interface standards have been posted for us to review and comment on as of yet.

I believe that we should follow this ISO/IEC RFID activity more closely, and/or liason between this group and the IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.15 groups to work together on coexistance issues in the 2.45 and 5.8 GHz frequency bands.

An ISM 2.4 Ghz frequency band coexistence Study Group was formed within the IEEE 802.15 Working Group last week. The IEEE 802 Executive Committee, prior to approving the formation of this Coexistence Study Group, posed the question as to whether or not this Study Group should become a full Working Group of it's own to work with IEEE 802.11, 802.15, 802.16 and 802.3 (since the 10 Gb ethernet task group has RF interference issues on their minds) on Radio Frequency coexistence issues. The 802 ExComm is expecting this question to be answered by the 802.15 Coexistance Study Group during it's Project Authorization Request (PAR) development.
