[802.15_GENERAL] IEEE 802 TG4e issues a call for proposals (CFP)

This email is to inform you that the IEEE 802.15 Task Group 4e has issued a call for proposals (CFP) on the 15 May 2008 as described in document: 15-08-0373-01-004e-call-for-proposals.doc.

The IEEE 802.15 Task Group 4e is chartered to define a MAC amendment to the existing standard 802.15.4-2006. The intent of this amendment is to enhance and add functionality to the 802.15.4-2006 MAC to a) better support the industrial markets and b) permit compatibility with modifications being proposed within the Chinese WPAN.

CALL FOR PRELIMINARY PROPOSALS: Due July 7, 2008

Proposers are strongly encouraged to provide a preliminary version of their proposal(s) as soon as possible but no later than by July 7 2008, and strongly encouraged to present the proposal(s) at the July 2008 session to the membership of TG4e, to share the breadth of their proposals and the opportunity for early proposal mergers. It also allows the task group to review the requirements and parameter documents for correctness.  Proposers should ensure that their preliminary proposals are submitted to the IEEE 802.15 document server and send notification to the TG4e Chair, Pat Kinney (pat.kinney@ieee.org) , TG4e Vice Chairs, Seong-Soon Joo (ssjoo@etri.re.kr) and Phil Beecher (pbeecher@integration.com) , and TG4e email reflector (stds-802-15-4e@listserv.ieee.org).

The IEEE 802.15 July Session will be held during the week of 13-18 July 2008 at Hyatt Regency Hotel, Denver, CO, USA

CALL FOR FINAL PROPOSALS: Due September 1, 2008

Final proposals are solicited for an amendment to the Standard IEEE 802.15.4-2006, compliant with the PAR (https://development.standards.ieee.org/get-file/P802.15.4e.pdf?t=18351600024) and 5 Criteria (15-07-0861-00-0000-sg4e-5c) for TG4e. Proposers are required to provide their final proposal(s) by September 1 2008, and to present the proposal(s) at the September 2008 meeting to the membership of TG4e.

These proposals should refer to IEEE 802.15-08-0374 for proposal content guidance and the IEEE patent policy at http://standards.ieee.org/board/pat/pat-material.html.  As it is the intent of TG4e to use these proposals to determine the baseline for the MAC amendment, the more complete the proposal, the greater the chances that it will be adopted by the task group.  As per the TG4e schedule, the task group will start drafting the amendment following this session.

Please submit your proposals to the IEEE 802.15 document server and send notification to the TG4e Chair, Pat Kinney (pat.kinney@ieee.org) , TG4e Vice Chairs, Seong-Soon Joo (ssjoo@etri.re.kr) and Phil Beecher (pbeecher@integration.com) , and TG4e email reflector (stds-802-15-4e@listserv.ieee.org) by 1 September 2008, which is prior to the September 2008 IEEE 802.15 Session, in order to be heard at that Session.

The IEEE 802.15 September Session will be held during the week of September 7-12, 2008, Hilton Waikoloa Village, Kona, HI, USA

No proposals will be accepted after September 1 2008, 23:59 UTC.
