[802.3_100GEL] May 9th Ad Hoc - Proposed Agenda

Hello Everyone –

As announced our meeting will start tomorrow as soon as .3cd ad hoc ends.  It appears that they have a full agenda, so I don’t anticipate to begin our ad hoc before 8:50am PDT (their current agenda is estimated to finish right at 9am).  If you are not joining the .3cd ad hoc, consider signing on around 8:50am PDT and waiting.  At the latest, I will begin at 9am PDT sharp with the agenda “paperwork” as we have 4 presentations to get through.

Proposed agenda for tomorrow’s (May 9th) Ad Hoc:

Agenda & Study Group Status - Beth Kochuparambil (4 minutes)

PCS, FEC and PMA Sublayer Baseline Proposal - Mark Gustlin (14 minutes)

C2M AUI Options - Ali Ghiasi (14 minutes)

Short Host Channel Implications - Rob Stone (14 minutes)

Using Chiplets to Lower Package Loss - Brian Holden (14 minutes)

Presenters – I opted to allow all 4 on-time requests presentation time, but this will only give you 14 minutes including Q&A… Please be mindful of this time tomorrow and let me know if you’d like to also do a more comprehensive presentation at the Interim.  I will have to cut off the presentation/questions at the 14 minute mark.  Send me your presentation by 8am PDT please so I can get them up on the website.

Cheers!

~Beth

Subject: Request for work needed - May Ad Hoc and Interim

Hello and Happy Tuesday (for most)!

Looking ahead to our Ad Hoc and Interim meeting, I’d like to present the following as priorities and as a request for work needed:

-        Modulation – what scheme(s) are people considering?

-        TX/RX equalization for backplane – what is feasible, what does it take to reach our 28dB objective?

-        C2M AUI – impacts on system design, power, compatibility, end-user experience, etc.

-        Expected package capabilities – I assume that this will come out as you evaluate the second bullet above

-        FEC – tradeoffs of possible gain, assumptions

Kent and I realize that we kept the technical conversations at a minimum in order to reach PAR and CSD in March (given a scheduling constraint in the year), so are hoping that now we can allow more of this discussion before we start baselines.  I’m hoping that the May 9th Ad Hoc and May Interim meeting are full of technical discussion on what are really the “tools in the toolbox” we are considering!

Take care and talk to you soon!

~Beth

Subject: [802.3_100GEL] Announcing Ad Hoc Modification

Hello All –

Kent and I have decided to cancel the weekly Ad Hocs scheduled for this month.

We will keep one ad hoc on the calendar for May 9th and request that people use the time do to some of the analysis needed for our May meeting.  Will send some priorities for the work needed (as we see it), via the reflector in the next day or two.

The May 9th Ad Hoc will start as soon as the .3cd Ad Hoc is finished that day; meaning it could start as early as 8am PST, but as late as 9am PST.  Calendar invite to follow.

Cheers!

~Beth
