[8023-10GEPON] January meeting report and next steps

Dear Task Force members,

Our task force has met in New Orleans to resolve comments submitted against draft D2.2 during our second recirculation of WG ballot. At this meeting, we successfully resolved all comments. A report showing all approved comment responses is posted at this URL: http://www.ieee802.org/3/av/public/2009_01/3av_0901_comments_d2_2_accepted.pdf. Unapproved meeting minutes are available at http://www.ieee802.org/3/av/public/2009_01/3av_0901_minutes_unapproved.pdf.

At the November 2008 IEEE 802 Plenary meeting, a conditional approval was granted to forward IEEE P802.3av 10Gb/s Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) to sponsor ballot. I am happy to announce that all the conditions have been met and sponsor ballot was opened on IEEE P802.3av/D3.0 on Friday 23-Jan-2009 with a ballot close date of Thursday 26-Feb-09 at 23:59 EST. As noted in the report to the IEEE 802 EC [http://www.ieee802.org/3/av/private/sponsor_ballot/IEEE802_3av_proc19_report.pdf], there are no technical changes between the previous draft D2.2 and this sponsor ballot draft D3.0.

Draft IEEE P802.3av/D3.0, and a markup version showing the differences against draft D2.2, can be accessed as follows:

URL (Plain): http://www.ieee802.org/3/av/private/draft_3_0/3av_D3_0_plain.pdf
URL (Diff): http://www.ieee802.org/3/av/private/draft_3_0/3av_D3_0_diff.pdf
(Username and password are supplied at meetings)

If you have joined the Sponsor ballot group and are planning to comment further on the draft, please, follow the instructions provided on the myBallot portal under the "manage myBallot Activity" link.

If you failed to join the Sponsor ballot group, but still would like to comment on the draft, it will save the task force officers significant effort if you would send your comments to Marek Hajduczenia (marek_haj@xxxxxxx) for inclusion in the ballot by Wednesday 25-Feb-09. Such comments will be identified in the comment field as coming from you, and like all comments from outside the ballot group will be non-binding. Please, use this excel spreadsheet file to enter your comments: http://www.ieee802.org/3/av/private/sponsor_ballot/comments.xls.
