[10GMMF] Comparison of polarization behavior of transmission with various laser sources

Dear all,

in the last telco we discussed the possible influence of the various laser sources on the polarization effect in multimode transmission. Therefore we performed some some experiments on that subject.

We recorded the patterns for two orthogonal input polarizations for three 10G-lasers: DFB,VCSEL and FP. 

For the transmission we used the "kink fiber" over a distance of 270m with a controlled offset launch in the area of the kink.

The result shows similar patterns for the DFB and VCSEL but slightly different ones for the FP (maybe caused by the larger number of wavelength). The general effect seems to be of similar size for the three sources.

Some minutes ago I sent to Piers a short presentation of the results and hope it is enough time to upload it for the telco today.
