Re: [10GMMF] task 2 and 4 updated vortex launch

Jim, can you provide some references on the vortex launch?  I'm also interested in experimental measurements of transmitted nearfields at the exit end of the fiber.   I want to understand better the modal power distribution assumptions both theoretically and what is observed.

It sounds like you do not see power coupling from the individual spiral modes to other modes within the same mode group (in particular, you don't see any power coupled back to the radial modes).    Someone said experiments show the output from a vortex launch does in fact looi like a donut rather than a disk --  wanted to check on this.

Subject: [10GMMF] task 2 and 4 updated vortex launch

This is an update to the vortex launch data presented on 1-12-05.

This includes :

    (A) removal of low bandwidth fibers for gen54YY

    (B) 18 modes groups instead of 21 of gen54YY

    (C) use average of the +/-3um launch tolerance instead of worst case.  (I think this is more in line with what John Ewen presented)

I would like to go over this on today's call.

Thanks,

Jim
