Yes, we agree. Equalization can indeed compensate for the intersymbol
interference (ISI) caused by Dispersion Mode Distortion (DMD) due to both
chromatic and polarization effects. Transversal filtering and other signal
processing techniques can be applied to implement the equalization.
National will have a presentation at the September Interim meeting showing
our analysis and simulation results for equalization methods applicable to
extending the range of both 1310nm and 850nm serial and WDM.
