RE: spreadsheet for MMF

Rob,

At 1310nm, the vast majority of the installed base of multimode fiber is 500
MHz*km. There is one type of 50 micron fiber specified in GbE that is 400
MHz*km, but it is not commonly used. Your confusion arises from the 160
MHz*km and 200 MHz*km specified at 850 nm. Both of these 62.5-micron fiber
types are specified at 500 MHz*km at 1310 nm.

The 4-channel WWDM long wavelength proposal, operating at 3.125 GBd per
channel (no MAS) should support a 300-m length on the installed base of MMF.
The specific power penalties were presented by Del Hanson at the Kauai
meeting. If MAS were then added on top of the WWDM, as Jaime has proposed,
then distances longer than 300-m could be possible.
