Jitter Meeting
I would like to strong encourage all who have expertise in the field of
jitter measurement; specification; and low jitter design to please come to
the meeting scheduled for December 7 and 8th. I realize that this is very
short notice. But, we have a great deal of work to do. Bring an expert
friend!
At this point, it is difficult to prepare an agenda for this WORKING
MEETING. We have scheduled two rooms so that we can split the XAUI from the
OPTICs groups as needed. As with the Austin meeting, presentations would be
welcome and encouraged. We need to rapidly converge on the methodology and
specifications. We had a great discussion in Austin. But, we did not make
any decisions.
We need to be absolutely "drop dead" D O N E by the May 2001 meeting.
We need to be done with the methodology by the March 2001 meeting and doing
no more than tweaking the numbers between March and May.
We should be validating proposed methodologies between Jan and March 2001
and first order proofing the specifications.
That means that we should have some fairly complete proposals for the
methodologies and initial specifications by the January meeting.
IF YOU ARE WAITING FOR SOME PHANTOM EXPERT TO STAND UP AND TAKE A LEAD, TO
RIDE IN AND SAVE THE DAY, TO TAKE SOME MAGIC PILL AND BECOME A SUPERHERO,
FORGET IT! WE TRENCH BUDDIES ARE GOING TO HAVE TO DO THIS!
No jitter spec -> no compliance -> no interoperability -> no standard.
