David, et al,
X.86 is another standard for "Ethernet over SONET" that is
specific to Ethernet and does not include RPR and other protocols and
does not use modifications of the IPG. X.86, "Ethernet over
LAPS", was approved at ITU-T SG7 last March. I have attached
to approved drafts involved with that standard. X.86 is a very
simple mapping technology that has proven to be very reliable in
testing.
