D2.3 will soon be posted, I would like to offer some explanation to go with it, to aid the review process.
At our last meeting, motion 4 instructed me to create a new Clause, Clause 145, for the Type 3 and Type 4 requirements.
Clause 33 reverts back to the 802.3-2015 version.
You will find Clause 145 obviously more to the back of the document.
Annex 33B and 33C became Annex 145A and 145B respectively.
Clause 145 starts as follows:
As is stated there, when you read "The PSE shall XXX" in Clause 145, this refers to Type 3 and Type 4 PSEs.
Or "A dual-signature PD shall ZZZ", this refers to a Type 3 or Type 4 dual-signature PD.
Very rarely you will find a reference to Type 1 and Type 2. The prime reason is that most of our spec is driven by assigned Class.
An exception would be (for example):
The "shall" above is a requirement on Type 3 and Type 4 PDs, connected to a specific PSE Type, in this case Type 1 or Type 2.
If you find I left in a requirement on Type 1/Type 2 please comment.
Do Not Comment On The Clause 145 PICS please. They were left untouched intentionally, due to the large amount of changes.
Craig Chabot has offered to get us new PICS for D2.3 which he will work on during this cycle.
By doing this, you get the draft early, and can spend extra time on review.
