Subject: [STDS-802-3] +++ SECOND 802.3 WG 1st RECIRCULATION BALLOT: IEEE P802.3br Interspersing Express Traffic D2.3 ballot
Both the initial and 1st recirculation Working Group ballot of IEEE P802.3br Interspersing Express Traffic failed to meet the abstention rate requirement of less than 30%. Based on this the IEEE 802.3 Working Group voted at its July 2015 plenary meeting to send the amendment IEEE P802.3br Interspersing Express Traffic to initial ballot again. This second initial ballot met the required approval and abstain thresholds <http://www.ieee802.org/3/email_dialog/msg00358.html>, and responses to comments from that affirmative ballot have been generated.
This is therefore announcement of the second electronic IEEE 802.3 Working Group 1st recirculation ballot on the amendment IEEE P802.3br Interspersing Express Traffic. Remember that voting, as well as attendance, is a requirement to maintain your IEEE 802.3 member (voter) status <http://ieee802.org/3/rules/member.html#DOT3>. Instructions for accessing the draft, casting your ballot and submitting comments follow this announcement. Note that the options for submitting comments HAVE BEEN UPDATED, please review the commenting instructions below to ensure you are using the most up to date tools.
The ballot group for this draft is the IEEE 802.3 voting membership as of Friday 17th July 2015.
Because this is a recirculation ballot, YOU ONLY NEED TO CAST A BALLOT IF YOU WISH TO CHANGE YOUR VOTE FROM THAT WHICH WAS RECORDED ON THE INITIAL BALLOT OR LAST RECIRCULATION. If you voted previously and your vote has not changed, the last ballot cast will be carried over to this ballot and you do not need to cast a new ballot.
During this IEEE 802.3 Working Group 1st recirculation ballot, the scope of the ballot is the substantive changes between IEEE P802.3br/D2.3 and IEEE P802.3br/D2.2 and the unsatisfied negative comments from the initial ballot.
One of the responsibilities as a balloter is to ensure that draft is consistent with the 5 Criteria responses which are available at <http://ieee802.org/3/br/8023-DMLT-SG-1311-Winkel-5C-v2.3.pdf>. An Approve vote indicates your agreement that the draft is consistent with the 5 Criteria responses.

The Project Authorization Request for this Amendment is available at <http://ieee802.org/3/br/P802d3br_PAR.pdf> and includes the following:
Standard for Ethernet Amendment Specification and Management Parameters for Interspersing Express Traffic
SCOPE OF PROJECT:
The scope of this project is to specify additions to and appropriate modifications of IEEE Std 802.3 to add support for interspersing express traffic over a single physical link.
NEED FOR THE PROJECT:
* Adoption of Ethernet into new market areas such as automotive, industrial automation, transportation (aircraft, railway and heavy trucks) has generated a need to converge low latency and best effort traffic streams.
* Currently this functionality requires multiple networks with parallel links.
* IEEE Std 802.3 currently does not have support for interspersed express traffic.
* This project will allow the needs of IEEE P802.1Qbu to be met with a single physical link between bridges.
Thank you for your participation in this ballot and careful review of the draft.
