[802.3_NGAUTO] Some comments on GM's presentaions

Dear Natalie, Dear all,

I'm interested in multi-gigabit Ethernet topic because I'm working for standardization of ISO 21111 optical gigabit Ethernet in ISO SC32.

Looking through the presentaions at 23rd Nov., a concern about the size of optical connector was indicated. Although this may not be the complete answer, An example is indicated at the page 7 of the article provided by TE http://www.te.com/content/dam/te-com/documents/automotive/global/1308084-2-most.pdf . Here you can find optical-electrical hybrid connector which can minimize the connector size.  Of course, this is MOST 50M - 150M bps application, so the design may need modification for multi-gigabit application but the concept should be the same.

Also, the following pages in the article, you can find a laser cleaving which is a alternative smart fiber termination method than polishing. This is an answer to your concern in the presentaion at 21st Dec.

I believe that many optical fiber and device experts can make better proposals to solve the concers indicated in the previous presentations

Regards,
Takehiro Hayashi
