(1)Reviewed IEEE patent policy

(2)Reviewed July 21 minutes and August 9 agenda; no changes to agenda

(3)Discussion on measurement models and volunteers

++Agreement to use the 3-24-3 channel topology instead of 5-20-5 for the maximum insertion loss case.

++Agreement on the following topologies as measurement priority:

>>3m-24m-3m
>>0.5m-3m-0.5m

>>1m-3m-1m

(4)Measurement volunteers

Wayne Larsen, Mike Good, and Bob Wagner all committed to providing data on these channels within the next two weeks.

(5)Comment on asymmetric measurement topologies

George Zimmerman suggested collecting measurements of asymmetric channels and agreed to follow-up with recommendations and rationale.

(6)The next meeting 8/23.

July 12 minutes:

Minutes from last meeting were approved.

Agenda was approved.

Port Mapping:

Sterling presented contribution.(http://www.ieee802.org/3/bq/public/channelmodeling/Vaden_03_0613_16_Port_nomenclature.pdf),

Agreements:

Use version 1 Touchstone files to transfer data.

Use 1 MHz step size

Start at 1 MHz

Stop at 2000 MHz or higher

Use the port mapping in figure 5 from Sterling’s contribution

Modeling:

Agreed that the modeling (from contributions made at previous meetings) shows that 0.5 m patch cords can be supported with the 2 dB enhanced return loss limit i.e., a 0.5 meter patch cords can be supported with a 2 dB (1 GHz-2GHz) improvement in Category 8 RL (D0.7) channel limits.

Agreed that shorter patch cords can be used, if they have the same insertion loss as 0.5 m patch cord (e.g., 0.5m 26 AWG stranded - IL TBD).

Next meeting August 9.

Colleagues,

Subject: 40GBASE-T cabling channel June 21 minutes and July 12 meeting scheduled

Apologize that the reflector does not seem to be reflecting well; likely in need of counseling. Many never received the last meeting notice and minutes. As Geneva will likely be busy like to hold one more call prior; July 12.

June 21 meeting minutes;

(1)Port mapping: Reviewed Sterling Vadens port mapping proposal (http://www.ieee802.org/3/bq/public/channelmodeling/Vaden_03_0613_16_Port_nomenclature.pdf), General support for the need to label differential mode and single ended ports. Hope to reach consensus on labeling convention July 12.

(2)Update on RL modeling -

Paul Kish: A 0.5 meter patch cords can be supported with a 2 dB (1 GHz-2GHz) improvement in Category 8 RL (D0.7) channel limits.

(3)Chris DiMinico: Discussion on minimum patch cord IL to constrain patch cord loss to 0.5 m equivalent.

(4)Modeling and measurement models:

Martin Rossbach (nexans): Reaffirmation on the scope of the work to include measurements of the modeled configuration to generate s16p i.e., s16p measurements for PHY- channel modeling.

George Zimmerman: Asked about measurement scaling... General agreement to hold off scaling discussion till we receive (some amount of) measurement results.

July 12 agenda

(1)Close RL modeling discussion..

>>min patch cord length

(2)Close port mapping

(3)Planning for July Plenary

(4)Review measurement models submitted
