[802.3_NGEPON] Contributions for January interim meeting

Dear colleagues,

I have uploaded a few contributions for January interim meeting in Atlanta, GA, USA (see http://www.ieee802.org/3/ad_hoc/ngepon/public/15jan/), as listed below:

·         ngepon_0115_hajduczenia_01.pdf: minor wording fixes + removal of too detailed information from 4.1 and 4.3 – we need to avoid overloading the reader with too many details that can be found in referenced contributions / materials anyway. Several missing references were added in individual sections

·         ngepon_0115_hajduczenia_02.pdf: clarification on ONU capacity requirements + refocus expectation on capacity and not on specific number of wavelength channels

·         ngepon_0115_hajduczenia_03.pdf: wording simplification + removal of “shall/should” statements scattered in the report. Fixed loss budget figure for PR40 class optics.

·         ngepon_0115_hajduczenia_04.pdf: minor wording changes + reorganization of text order – material from 5.11 was moved into 5.8.3, where it fits better (in my opinion) the flow of the text

·         ngepon_0115_hajduczenia_05.pdf: removal of “shall/should” statements scattered in the report, clarification on mechanisms used to obtain IP addresses in public WiFi

·         ngepon_0115_hajduczenia_09.pdf: removed text around Figure 32 that spoke about wavelength allocation for individual PON systems; removed large portions of details on splitters for PON system (power and WDM splitters), leaving summary information and references to individual documents for further reading. Removed references to letter designations that existed in Figure 39 at one time (they were removed 2 cycles back)

·         ngepon_0115_hajduczenia_08.pdf: simplified examples of increasing system capacity and separated TDM rate increase, wavelength overlay, different modulation schemes, and hybrid approaches into cleaner bullets. Removed repetitive material from TDM-PON section. Terminology alignment for WDM-PON section.

·         ngepon_0115_hajduczenia_07.pdf: contribution to section on bandwidth consumption trends over the period of ~4 years. This is brand new material, based on historic data for the actual access network in NA.

·         ngepon_0115_hajduczenia_10.pdf: edits and comments on subclauses 6.5 and 6.6, mainly removing unnecessary details from the text. A new subclause on Raman mitigation was added (just header changes).

Any comments on individual contributions are welcome. I plan to prepare a contribution with proposed text for conclusions of the report (under development at this time).
