[802.3BA] July Meeting Update

Dear Task Force Participants,

We had a very busy July Interim / Plenary meeting.  The unapproved minutes for the July Interim / Plenary meetings in San Francisco may be found at:  http://www.ieee802.org/3/ba/public/jul09/minutes_01_0709_unapproved.pdf.  Please take a moment to review the minutes and send me an email if any inaccuracies found.

For those not present at the meeting, the Task Force approved modifying the reach of the Cu PHY for 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s operation from 10m to 7m.  Subsequently, this objective change was approved by the 802.3 Working Group.  The updated objectives may be seen at http://www.ieee802.org/3/ba/PAR/P802.3ba_Objectives_0709.pdf.

Considerable progress was made at this meeting.  There was discussion in the Cu Sub Task Force regarding conference calls for further review on Clause 85.  Individuals interested in these calls should contact Chris DiMinico, the Cu Sub Task Force Chair.

I would like to take a moment to thank the sub task force chairs, editorial team, and meeting participants for all of their diligent efforts in resolving the 427 comments received against Draft 2.1.   Moving forward a 15 day recirculation ballot for D2.2 is planned with a target open date of (Wed) Aug 19 and a target close date of (Thurs) September 3.

Thanks once again to everyone for making our July meeting successful.

Best Regards,

John D’Ambrosia

Chair, IEEE P802.3ba Task Force
