IANA MAU MIB

Dear members of the IEEE 802.3.1 MIB Task Force,
and the IEEE 802.3 Maintenance Task Force,

At the last meeting of the IEEE 802.3.1 MIB Task Force in
Orlando, Fl, we reviewed the IANA MAU MIB module that had been
updated at our request on February 23, 2010 to include the
new MAU types and object identities introduced by recently
approved amendments to IEEE Std 802.3.

You can find a copy of this MIB module at the following URL:

http://www.iana.org/assignments/ianamau-mib

We noted that the module references IEEE Std 802.3-2005 rather than
the most recent edition of IEEE Std 802.3-2008. We decided that it
would be a good idea to review the text of the module to see if any
other updates are warranted, and to do so outside of the (soon to be
launched) working group ballot of P802.3.1. We agreed to conduct
this review via email, with the goal of producing a set of proposed
revisions for discussion when we meet in Geneva in late May.

Please review the IANA MAU MIB module, and send your comments
to the stds-802-3-mib@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx reflector. I will collate
the comments and draft a proposed revision for us to review
in Geneva. For my part, I do not see anything that is in
urgent need of an update aside from the reference to IEEE Std 802.3.

Chair, IEEE 802.3.1 MIB Task Force
