[802.3af] 802.3af standard or 802.af standard

Title: 802.3af standard or 802.af standard

Gentlemen

I am being told by representatives of Avaya that a standard for Powering Voice Terminals over Ethernet is approved. They are also referring to a standard that is called 802.af. Is this the same thing or something different?

See also at there website : http://www1.avaya.com/enterprise/who/docs/iptelephones/techspecs.html

Im being told by Cisco however that the current proposal for the standard was/is developed by them or in close partnership with Cisco.

Is this correct or not?

Thank you for any information concerning this topic, I would appreciate your answer a lot.

Kind regards
