Admission control + SRP (registration protocol)
- How/where to enforce it?
- Traffic classes - time to define them precisely
- Consensus: Edge nodes perform admission control; bridges in the middle of the network will perform traffic scheduling on a per-traffic class basis, as an emergency action in case admission control fails to prevent congestion situation.
- Need to define sync notion at the edge of the network, in order to enforce traffic admission. Easy Interworking with 1394 is also desirable.
- Certain gaming applications have problems with 1394 latency.
Timing Synchronization - rate adjustment + offset adjustment - David James writeup
- 1394 status - contributions solicited for next meeting
- ResE interworking spec on per application (Annex) - for instance, PLL mechanism for jitter adjustment for MPEG receivers
- How about 1588 - how do we fit ResE material into 1588 framework, e.g., delay request/response.
- Multiple timing domains - 1588 allows for subdomains
- One master clock per sub-domain
- Discussion about Grand Master selection mechanism in ResE.
- Use RSTP "root election" mechanism for that? Possible.
