[802SEC] FW: [§6.3 text on ITU-R] RE: [FG-Smart] FG-Smart overview deliverable update

Dear EC and RR-TAG,

This may help expand your view of who is doing what in regard to Smart Grid in ITU-R and ITU-T. Ray is sending the ITU-R data in response to the email below regarding ongoing work in ITU-T FG Smart.

Note that IEEE 802 has received a liaison regarding the ITU-R SG5 report on wide area sensor systems. The work in SG7 also seems to be of direct interest.

This email is also meant to encourage the wireless WGs to be ready to develop editorial improvements to the ITU-R WP1A draft report on SG communications at the March Plenary. If we indeed have an interest in the views of ITU-R and ITU-T on SG communications then we need to be part of their process.

Glad to discuss.

Regards,

Mike

ITU-R SG5 (WP-D) have studied radio terrestrial access networks, such as IMT-2000 (see list in table below) and IMT-Advanced (Data rates sourced from Report ITU-R M.2134<http://www.itu.int/rec/R-REP-M.2134/en> - ´Requirements related to technical performance for IMT-Advanced radio interface(s)´). These activities should pay attention to smart gird and Smart Grid be aware of these technologies. It is Recommended that Liaison be established.
