[802SEC] IEEE 802.3ck draft PAR and CSD response - 100 Gb/s, 200 Gb/s, and 400 Gb/s electrical interfaces based on 100 Gb/s signaling

Dear EC members,

In support of subclause 9.2 'IEEE 802 LMSC Approval' of the LMSC Operations Manual please find below the required information in respect to the IEEE 802.3ck Standard for Ethernet Amendment: Physical Layer Specifications and Management Parameters for 100 Gb/s, 200 Gb/s, and 400 Gb/s electrical interfaces based on 100 Gb/s signaling PAR for consideration at the March 2018 plenary.

Best regards,
  David

[2] Explanatory technical background material:

The continual growth of bandwidth demand has driven evolution of higher Ethernet speeds, most recently with 100 Gb/s, 200 Gb/s and 400 Gb/s Ethernet. To meet this growth, ongoing advancement in SERDES technology to higher rates of operation enables the opportunity to develop higher density or lower cost electrical interfaces. IEEE Std 802.3 and its proposed or existing amendments do not currently define electrical solutions based on 100 Gb/s signaling.

[3] Status of the development of the PAR:

The draft PAR and CSD responses are pending IEEE 802.3 Working Group approval at the March 2018 plenary.
