IEEE WORKSHOP - Standards to help Mitigate Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Global Warming, and their Impact on the Environment
The event, "IEEE Workshop on Standards to Help Mitigate Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Global Warming, and their Impact on the Environment," will be held Friday, 13 June 2008 at the IEEE Operations Center, 445 Hoes Lane, Piscataway, NJ 08854. It will take place from 8:30am - 2:30pm EDT.
The objectives of this workshop include developing an understanding of the current standards environment relative to greenhouse gas emissions and global warming and related issues, and determining the structure and goals for an IEEE-SA study group to explore further actions in collaboration with other key organizations within and outside of IEEE. These actions may include but are not limited to definition of future standards projects.
Topics to be addressed and participant discussion are expected to include:
ISO standards in TC 207 (Environmental Management) and TEAM (Technology Early Action Measures, Canada) documents for the power generation/electricity sector;
Energy efficiency and metrics for energy consumption of network equipment;
Carbon credits accounting/trading; and
ISO TC 211 (Geographic Information and Geomatics) and its activities in measurements for climate change.
