This is a proposed agenda with comments on the current status of activities for the Task Force.

1. Introductions.

Members should update email addresses as this is the main method of distributing information. Email updates can be sent to me directly at markm@electrotek.com or m.mcgranaghan@ieee.org.

2. Member Activities Review

Discussion of member activities in the application of harmonic limits. More detailed presentation of example application of harmonic limits is scheduled for the end of the meeting.

3. International Standards Activities

• Continued discussion regarding the application of IEC 1000-3-2. Update from Larry Conrad.
• Status of IEC 1000-3-4. Possible update from Erich Gunther.
• IEC 1000-3-6 – completed.
• EN 50160 specifies maximum harmonic levels for the power system.
• Other harmonic standards (UK (G5/3), Argentina, South Africa (NRS 048), Japan, China.

1. Related Standards Activities

• IEC 1000-4-7. There has been an update on guidelines for measuring and characterizing harmonic levels.
• 1159 working groups are also addressing guidelines for characterizing harmonics – Larry Ray.
• IEC Working Group on Power Quality Monitoring Requirements (part of the IEC 1000-4-x series) is developing guidelines for monitoring equipment – possible update Alex McEachern.
• Task Force on Single Phase Harmonic Limits – Update James Howell.
• Capacitor Subcommittee/Filter Design Working Group is developing a Guide for Harmonic Filter design. Low Voltage and Medium Voltage guides are being developed. Possible update – Tom Grebe.
• Interharmonics Working Group completed a position paper – Erich Gunther.
• IEEE P1433 is developing a glossary of definitions for power quality terminology – Update Gil Hensley.

• Time varying characteristics of harmonics – is this discussion appropriate for 519A? (Allan Ludbrook)
• Even harmonic limits – is this discussion appropriate for 519A? (Allan Ludbrook)
• Presentation of limits from international standards (IEC 1000-3-2, IEC 1000-3-4, IEC 1000-3-6, IEC 1000-2-2) – is this appropriate? (Allan Ludbrook)

1. Balloting

We have until October to have the final document approved. A balloting committee is being developed. The balloting committee will represent at least the following groups:

Working Group for revision of IEEE 519-1992 is operating. You can check material for the working group at the following web site:

Allan Ludbrook and Mark Halpin are co-chairmen of this effort. We will be looking for contributions and participation from the membership of P519A Task Force.

5. Next Meeting

Discussion of need for meeting at I&CPS Meeting. Meeting for Summer Power Meeting will share time slot with Working Group to Update IEEE 519-1992.
