I appreciate Marshall not liking dealing with echnical issues, i seems
that even with First Class one may have issues: but I suspect less than
most. the OU has 128000 FC users, although I am not sure of a coherent
pedagogic model across all courses.
My users' FC problems inevitably come down to two issues, Firstly firewall
and proxy issues imposed by ISP's and orporate IS depts. This is down to
the ususal paranoia/laziness of any IT service department.
Secondly:working off-line. In the UK we still worry about line charges.
Offline working is not well documented compared with the relative ease of
use of the system as a whole.
However my main reason for posting is to praise Centrinity for sponsoring
an excellent website on collaborative learning: it is a candle.
