"Ms. Chandra Stone" <haddawayresearch@hotmail.com> wrote that she has a
listing of distance degree programs at
http://www.angelfire.com/fl/AtHomeDegrees/
I urge caution and investigation before you add to this list. It includes
"Western Washington State University" and claims that it "is accredited by
the United States Association of Universities & Colleges (USAUC)" and
"affiliated with United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA)."
This is utterly meaningless. "USAUC" is not one of the associations
recognized by the US Department of Education; I doubt very much whether it
exists except in the minds of those who created the WWSU site. USDLA is a
worthy organization but one which anyone can join by paying a membership fee.
The "WWSU" website is inoperative at present, and I have been told that by
staff at Western Washington University that it was "a site for a diploma
mill that has been shut down in response to a demand from the Washington
State Assistant Attorney General
who represents Western Washington University."
